The Piece
Meant to be seen as much as played on.
Ebony laid in a sunburst grain across the top. Burl-wood inlay framing the score displays. An octagonal pedestal that would sit comfortably beside a grand piano. Underneath it all — the full automatic mechanism of the Slim Voice SCORE: auto shuffle, auto deal, LCD score displays and voice guidance.

The Atelier
Matsuso — furniture as art.
株式会社松創
Matsuso makes high-end Japanese furniture in Fuchu, Hiroshima — a town known for fine cabinetry — with roots reaching back to 1855, when Shinbei Matsuoka first took up furniture making. Their own words: “We make furniture as if we were making a single piece of art.”
Seen at the highest level
Matsuso chests have twice been shown to Japan's Emperors — in 1973 and 1995 — and the atelier has exhibited its furniture in Las Vegas and New York.
A Ginza address
GINZA Matsuso, the atelier's own showroom in Ginza, Tokyo, opened in 2021 — where commissions are discussed piece by piece, and where this table has been exhibited.
