Tailoring

Yours to specify.

The piece pictured is a starting point, not a catalogue item. Through the atelier, a commission can be specified in alternative woods, finished with leather upholstery, or accented in gold — made to suit the room it will live in.

Every commission is a conversation between you, ALBAN and the atelier — and each one is quoted individually.

The Atelier

Matsuso — furniture as art.

Matsuso makes high-end Japanese furniture in Fuchu, Hiroshima — a town known for fine cabinetry — with roots reaching back to 1855, when Shinbei Matsuoka first took up furniture making. Their own words: “We make furniture as if we were making a single piece of art.”

Wood, given time

Timber is dried naturally for three to five years before it is worked, and every piece is made in-house — from sawmill to final polish.

Seen at the highest level

Matsuso chests have twice been shown to Japan's Emperors — in 1973 and 1995 — and the atelier has exhibited its furniture in Las Vegas and New York.

A Ginza address

GINZA Matsuso, the atelier's own showroom in Ginza, Tokyo, opened in 2021 — where commissions are discussed piece by piece, and where this table has been exhibited.

How It Works

Commissioned through ALBAN.

You don't need to navigate a Japanese atelier on your own. Start with ALBAN — we built the mechanism inside, and we make the introduction.

Tell us what you have in mind

Use the quote form and mention the Matsuso table — the room, the woods you love, the timeline you're hoping for.

We introduce you to the atelier

ALBAN arranges the details with GINZA Matsuso on your behalf — specification, price and timeline, in English, in one conversation.

Your table is made

The atelier builds your commission around the Slim Voice SCORE mechanism, and delivery is arranged to your country by quote.
