A workshop opens
ALBAN is founded in Tokyo and begins developing and servicing automatic Riichi tables — a machine that has to shuffle, build and deal flawlessly, thousands of times.
ALBAN was founded in Tokyo in 1990 to do one thing well: build automatic tables for Japanese Riichi mahjong. Three and a half decades later, the same workshop develops the Slim Voice series and ships tables to homes and clubs around the world — every order quoted personally, by a person in Tokyo.

ALBAN develops its own Slim series — foldable, voice-guided tables sized for real apartments, leading to today's flagship Slim Voice SCORE with its LCD score display.
The Slim series is designed in Tokyo, then assembled, finished and inspected at ALBAN's own factory — a quiet DC motor and belt drive, foldable cabinet, and built-in voice guidance in every table.
As Riichi grows across North America, Europe and beyond, ALBAN ships worldwide — crated freight, full export documents, and a real person answering in English within 24 hours.
Riichi is the Japanese ruleset of mahjong — four players, 136 tiles, and a declaration ("riichi") that locks your hand one tile from winning. It is the version every ALBAN table is built for: automatic shuffling and dealing so the four of you can focus on the game.
Our showroom in Kaname-cho, Toshima-ku — one stop from Ikebukuro in central Tokyo — is where customers play a few hands before they buy. Visits are by appointment; if you're coming to Japan, tell us and we'll arrange it.
